The Unteachables- By Gordon Corman

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

This is the classroom of "incompetent" students. The bad kids that the teachers can't stand anymore. The lost causes. Only 7 students. Barnstorm, the jock... until he hurt himself, and couldn't play. Then, teachers started to realize hat his last turned in homework assignment was never, and stuff like that. There's Parker, who has dyslexia. It's not his fault the teachers never bothered to figure out why he couldn't read like everybody else in the 8th grade. Mateo can't stop talking about superheroes, and TV characters. Rahim is always asleep because his dad's band plays in their basement REALLY LOUDLY. Elaine, rhymes with pain, and that's what you will feel if you mess with her. Aldo has serious anger management problems, though he doesn't totally understand what that means. He definitely manages to get angry better than anybody else in the school. And Kiana... Well she does not belong in this class. Her schedule gets mixed up, and she gets plopped into the worst class ever. Or so it seems. All these students end up being amazing, but the real star is the teacher, Mr. Kermit. An amazing teacher, but shunned, because of something that happened in the past. A cheating scandal that he was never involved in. I like this book, because it's about these amazing students coming together to do something amazing. My moms read it and liked it, "I liked how the characters came together and supported each other like a family. There were a lot of funny parts. It was definitely a 'feel good' book."

"I didn't expect to like it, because the teacher sounded like he sucked, but in the end I really loved it."

Short- By Holly Goldberg Sloan

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Julia Marks is not tall.  But she refuses to say she's short. When her mom signs her up to be in a musical, Julia is sure she's going to hate it. Boy, how wrong she is. She learns a lot, makes amazing friends, and has tons of fun! I love how Julia talks about grown-ups, and my moms often wondered why I kept laughing out loud, at random times while I was reading this book.

Roller Girl- By Victoria Jamieson

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Astrid and her friend Nicole go to see a game of roller derby. Astrid loves it, and wants to play on the junior team with Nicole, but she doesn't realize that Nicole doesn't want to. Nicole is going to dance camp, with Astrid's arch nemesis... A girl named Rachel. Astrid soon realizes that roller derby is not easy, and she has to work crazy hard to be able to play in the bout. In the camp, she makes a friend named Zoey and she turns out to be much more loyal than Nicole. I like this book, because I like to roller skate, and if you do too, you might like this book! I also like that she pushes through the hard work of roller derby. This is also just a fun book that I really like!

Fish in a Tree- By Lynda Mullaly Hunt

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Ally has a secret. She has Dyslexia, (which means it's difficult for her to read). She's never told anyone, because she thinks she's dumb, and it might sound like it, but think about this: no one has ever found out yet, and she is in the 5th grade. She has fooled a lot of smart people, including her brother, Travis, her mother, and a bunch of teachers. I like this book because it- like Out of my Mind- helps people have more empathy for those with disabilities. Ally is funny and smart, and it's fun to see stuff from her perspective! Both of my moms have read it, and they like it a lot too!
